de la Famille Park

This is one of the prettiest splash pads around! It’s fairly new, beautifully landscaped and this “treasure island” is designed with a moat, bridge, and a boat!
From Tessier Récréo-Parc and with equipment by Waterplay Solutions Corp  it’s so nice it feels like a mini-vacation. Feel the breeze, pretend you’re sipping a mojito, and imagine yourself on a Caribbean island.
Just outside of the water area is a steering wheel and telescope (to search for land obviously) and within the splash pad you’ll find a treasure map in the ground, and…adventure. There’s something here for all ages: a turtle spraying out gentle streams who’s also good to try and sit on, the Whale Tail mister, a Windy Poly Palm spurting water out from its fronds, the Sneaky Soaker trio of dumping buckets, water cannons for spraying your brother, and a path of ground sprays to stomp around in. You can run through, under, and over. Or just stand still and enjoy the mist.
There are a couple of picnic tables and benches within the actual splash pad area and many more scattered around the park. The one umbrella/sail in the splash pad casts some shade over a small area, but the rest of the park is pretty much all sun except for some shade around the edge of the fenced toddler park. By 10am we were pretty scorched and wanted to jump in the water again.
(Someone was setting up for a party which is why you might notice a donut piñata in some of the pictures and video!)

The big and small kid playgrounds are very spread out and not in sight of the splash pad. So it’s a “play in the water, pack up, play in the playground” kind of place.
The larger playground is full sun with a fun play structure with great slides. The little guy enjoyed trying to scale the spiderweb climber and stood on the balance boards. There is an old-school metal caterpillar climber, a bunch of swings (on dirt, I wouldn’t swing here when it hasn’t rained in a while), and down the path sitting on its own is an Xccent bouncy beam (we call it The Worm).

The fully fenced and gated toddler park has a small climber with stairs, a steering wheel, slides and a tricky-to-get-across vertical wall that emulates a spider web. There are a couple of older and new spring riders, 3 adult swings, a parent-baby Expressions swing, 7 baby swings and a recently added adaptive swing with a full 5-point harness. It’s all on wood chips except for two tiny sand boxes. If you need an adaptive swing note that there is a very high curb all around the swing area, which makes it impossible to get super close with a walker or wheelchair.

Things to note:
-The splash pad is on from 9am-9pm.
-There’s a small chalet with bathrooms and a water fountain, which has been locked all the other times we’ve been here, and during our most recent visit, was unlocked by an employee at 10:15am.
-There is parking for a few cars in a tiny lot right on Boischatel.
-On Mondays throughout the summer there are evening activities at this park. You can read about them at this link: Les lundis en folie au parc de la Famille

On your way there or back you should totally stop at Smoke Meat Pete’s for a giant bag of fries or…..Dairy Queen! Mmmmmmm
