de la Métairie Park

Oooooooooo. The play structures here were so…weird….and strangely coloured….and wonderful!
The climbers by Playworld Systems are similar to the structures at Norman-Dawe Park in Verdun and are amazingly creative and bizarre. It was actually pretty nice to not see another playground in bright red/blue/yellow.
We parked on Rue Dupret but the playground is accessible by a few streets and paths. There is no fencing and both play structures are quite close to the road.

The big-kid play structure has, well, everything. There are sky wheels, multiple rock climbing walls, metal rungs and ladders, space-age-y pods to climb, slides, tic-tac-toe, a cool bridge, staircase (but it doesn’t give you access to the whole structure), rungs to swing from and lots to explore.
The little guy was kind of able to putter around a bit, and climb up a couple of things, but it’s really geared towards, and safer for, older children.
Thankfully (for him) just across the path is an equally fun Fun Centers Design #6 toddler climber that features ground level activities like reading through the alphabet and checking out the dinosaurs, banging the bongo, or climbing through the swiss-cheese wall. Sadly there’s some graffiti underneath and there was also a pile of cat poop. Ew.
So we scurried up to the top. The short people can access the top platform and the slides by the rock/mountain wall, the funky stepping stone ladder, or the close-to-the-ground openings. No stairs but it’s basically one step.
Once they’re up there’s a steering wheel, a clock with hands to turn and a wall featuring a frog trying to eat a fly.
In the surrounding sand (and very close to the road!) are the big and baby swings, and there’s also a seesaw.

Nun’s Island has some really interesting playgrounds and I’d come back just to see these climbers again!
