Decelles Park

We were having a wander around Saint-Laurent and came down Rue Roy where we noticed the little playground at Decelles Park. Actually, first we noticed the sparkly pool and then the playground!

It was the day before the pool/splash pad/wading pool opening and though we couldn’t go inside, they were testing out the sprays in the splash pad so we got to watch the spouting palm trees, the animal water cannons, and the whale rings that you can run through. The splash pad is within the supervised wading pool section so follows its opening hours which I’ve posted at the bottom of the page.

Parking here was a bit tricky as right in front of the new baseball/softball field was a sign saying for monthly pass holders only, and then there were just a few available spots in front of the pool. But we snagged one and then had a look around. The chalet was open with clean bathrooms (hooray!) and after watching the splash pad (our video was too short and unexciting from across the fence so I’m not posting it), we trotted over to the little playground. 
Luckily I only had the 3-year old with me as this is purely a toddler playground. All the little ones playing were pretty thrilled with the Kompan play structure with easy to climb platforms, a little slide, slanted climbing wall, and rope wall. We spied through the binoculars, and played with some trucks a few kids had brought along and nicely shared. 

Besides the climber (which btw, is missing one post cap), there are two baby swings. I was always been puzzled by this style of swing, but while they’re not the best design for itty-bitty babies, they are great for 2 & 3 year olds to get ready for big-kid swings. 

The playground is small, with the sand area and some grass around the edge, and while it is fenced there are no gates at the roads. There was also some dark shade over part of the play area, which was great, but made for tricky photo taking with the bright sun!
