des Lilas Park

When I was about 25 I had a friend who always wore bright pink and lime green. I was like “Is that a thing? I’m not sure that goes together…”
I was assured that I was just uncool, and my eyes adjusted to the glare.
Side note, we were also trying to get the word “platinum” trending as a new word for awesome. It didn’t happen.

Fast forward the this park. Which is stuck back 15 years, when apparently pink and green WAS A THING.
And it is still god awful. The horror of this colour combo knows no bounds. I feel bad for the beautiful neighbouring houses.
Avert your eyes!

We first visited this park in 2015, and came back only because there were a couple of new spring riders and I wanted to update the pictures. The rest of the park is still quite bland, with the same broken equipment from 3 years ago.

There are two play areas here, both on wood chips and with climbers and swings for big and little kids.
The toddler climber from GameTime has stairs, a long tunnel, a couple of metal ladders, slides, a broken Piston Wall Panel activity, and an Interactive Shapes Panel. Just beside is the two-kid ride-on dinosaur that both my kids always like. Or like to argue over. New this year are two spring riders (an elephant and a train).

The big climber from Landscape Structures is pretty inaccessible to anyone younger than 5 as there are no stairs, but older kids might like the monkey bars, swinging pods, metal ladders and rungs, and the steep Summit Climber. There’s also the funny little stand-alone swing that my little guy always thinks is made just for him. It’s such a weird design though. So much metal for this teensy little seat.

Under the bizarre circus-tent-shelter-on-stilts is a picnic table where you can watch both climbers; there are some benches around and though it is fenced, there are wide open gates towards the street and the walking trails along the back of the park. Oh, and no shade.
