Dorion Gardens Park

We stumbled across this park while searching out the new Vivaldi Park (which wasn’t yet complete), so after that initial disappointment, we came back and both boys had a pretty good time.

This is a large park with soccer and baseball fields and a year round ball hockey/ice hockey rink. The actual playground is close to the road and parking lot, and has some really ineffective fencing, but there is plenty of greenspace towards the back. We parked in the small lot, hopped over the chain-link fence and both boys veered off to different things.
The little one tried out the spring riders (there are two shoes, and a little car), and then tottered over to the toddler climber.
This play structure is by the Quebec-based GO-ELAN and we’ve never seen this model of climber. There’s a metal staircase, but my guy was intent on climbing up to the tunnel by using the little footholds. While it didn’t look all that high, he had some trouble getting his grip, but with a little shove on his butt he clambered up. On the top platform is a tic-tac-toe wall, another crawl tunnel and a few slides.
In the same sand area is the big-kid climber from Jambette. It also has a staircase that leads up to a steering wheel and a double slide. The rest of the climber is more challenging with a rope bridge (that I crossed, while holding my breath!), a sort-of rock-climbing wall, and rope and metal ladders.
There are also two different swing sets; one with just baby swings and another with both big and baby swings.
It’s all compact with great sight lines, but again there are basically no fences.

The only shade is under the two picnic table shelters, and while there is a chalet with a bathroom it was locked when we visited, though it was November so it is probably open during the summer season.
