Émilie-Gamelin Park (La Prairie)

Blast off!

We love, LOVED this playground and splash pad.
It’s huge, has lots to do and places to run about or picnic, different sport facilities, and is easy to watch kids of varying ages in the two play areas or in the splash pad.

This park underwent renovations in 2015 (almost a million dollars worth!), and includes all new playgrounds, the splash pad, park furnishings, a parking lot, and a new chalet.

The playground is fantastic with an out-of-this-world space theme.
There’s plenty for both toddlers and big kids to climb, slide, clamour up and down. I particularly like the different play panels that will get kids running about and exploring while spin the dial and hunt for various images around the playground.
Another plus is that the slide and play structure in the toddler area has stairs as well as more challenging climbers.

You’ll also find an adult swing, our favourite Expression tandem swing, and two baby swings.

The splash pad with products from Vortex is just steps away and has the super-impressive scorpion (ahhhhhhhh!), a crab and fish sprayer, a ship’s bow to duck behind, and plenty of in-ground jets. Super fun and interactive.

Things to note:
-There’s just no shade. None. You may burst into flames.
-The splash pad is on from 10am-9pm. Press the sensor to start the water sequence.
-The playground is all on wood chips.
-There are also soccer fields, a winter sledding hill, two beach volleyball courts, two baseball diamonds, and plenty of parking available in the large lot.
-Benches and picnic tables are right near the playground.
-There is a chalet, but there were no posted bathroom hours when we visited in 2019.
