Gibson Park

We’d somehow overlooked this park when we were doing this area last summer. You can’t see it from the road, so park on near McAdam St and Rue McDonald and go down the small path.
The playground is fenced all around but with open gates and is separated into swings/sand-digger/baby swings/big climber/toddler climber areas. All is on wood chips except for the little sand digger part.
If you have a few kids you should have an easy time seeing them all as everything is fairly close together and flat.
The toddler climber is styled like an ambulance, so I was the sickly patient “sit dere!” while the little one drove me, hopefully to the hospital.
There are stairs, ladders, mushrooms to walk across (one is broken and wobbles wildly as its bolt is gone), and slides.
There is also GameTime’s ride-on/teeter-totter 4-kid contraption, and a little race car, dinosaur and turtle. All the spring-riders need another layer of wood chips around them as their concrete bases and bolts are too far above ground.

The large climber by Landscape Structures has monkey bars and ladder rungs, sky wheels, swinging pods to walk on, slides, the Double Wave, and a Summit to climb. The weird hand/foot pedalling thing we’ve seen at a couple of other Kirkland parks is broken and missing the foot pedals, but really, this thing doesn’t work when it’s NOT broken.

There are the four big swings, and a couple of baby swings, and in the middle is the circus tent. Actually it’s like a roof on stilts over a couple of benches. So random!
There was a bit of shade when we were there around 10am, but I’m guessing there’s not too much later on in the day.
The park was also overrun with a couple of elementary school classes when we were about to leave, (with one kid saying “So? I don’t care.” when his friend said to watch out for the baby playing.)

The park connects to Kirkland’s network of paved walking trails and we saw a few dog walkers, strollers, and inline skaters going by.
