Godin Park

Fun, shiny and clean, with water views.  All-in-all a good park 🙂

It must be fun, if when you leave, you have to stuff the unbending toddler into the carseat because he doesn’t want to go. “Sit in your seat. Come on, BEND!!”

The park is divided into an 18month-5 years, and a 5-12 years section (both are on wood chips).
My two enjoyed the toddler climber, though I found the stairs to be steep and shallow, but I also have giant, non-toddler sized feet which might be why. AGAIN I had to pry the little one’s hands off the steering wheel to try out something else.
There’s a ride-on dinosaur and the Jumbo Flyer airplane, as well as two baby swings and a sand digger (though no sand).

The big-kid climber by Miracle Recreation is HIGH. No stairs, but many choices to get up. There’s a rock climbing wall, the cute explorer-themed slide with critters poking out of the “log”, a high-up (but safe) bridge, swinging monkey vines, a Honeycomb wall, all sorts of challenging metal ladders and a suuuuuper steep slide. I wanted to go up, but it was so high and this park isn’t fenced and I wasn’t comfortable leaving the little guy on his own at the bottom, so my older one wandered around while I craned my neck and shouted “Careful. CAREFUL PLEASE!”
Beside the climber are four big-kid swings.

Loads of new and clean picnic tables here AND a charcoal bbq! One of the picnic tables has a wheelchair accessible spot.
The chalet was open (but super dark and a bit spooky inside) and the water fountain worked. Yeah!
Walk a bit past the parking lot and you’ll find a tiny boardwalk that overlooks the Baie de Vaudreuil and Lac des Deux Montagnes. I pointed out the ÃŽle aux Tourtes Bridge that we often cross, to which the older one said “I was JUST thinking that, IN MY BRAIN!”
Me=mindreader.
We also saw a bloated dead catfish which the boys were thrilled about. I spared you the picture they took.

    Great blog!

    This is my local park and I agree that it’s fantastic. There is one serious flaw though that I think should be noted. The bigger slide on the toddler section zig zags in a very awkward fashion. I never really thought much of it, but in conversations with other parents I have learned of 2 children who broke bones in their feet on this slide! The zig zag just doesn’t flow very well so some kids end up putting their entire weight on one foot when it hits a bend because it’s not a fluid top to bottom motion.

    I am really not a paranoid helicopter mom ( in fact, I let my toddler go on the big, steep slide on the big kid section of this park), but that small slide worries me. I emailed the city about it and was basically told that since no one has filed a report, it’s a non-issue.

      Thanks for the comment Nicola! I sent my little guy down that very slide but held him from the top until he’d kinda “missed” that first turn. Good to know of the danger for others using it. I find in visiting so many parks there are allllll kinds of crazy things around and am surprised at some of the climber designs, steep stairs, no handrails etc…
