Joseph-Avila-Proulx Park

This park looked impressive from the road, The surrounding gardens are almost super pretty, but needed some weeding/landscaping TLC. Maybe it was coming.

We toddled up to the monster of a climber from Miracle Recreation and…stopped. While it has a sign marked for kids “2-12”, this is not really a toddler-friendly climber. Maybe 4 or 5 year-olds could handle the swinging pods walkway, but not my fairly brave 2 year old. The only other way up to the small platform with the short slide is one of those bumpy Tot Rock Climbers. He was having nothing to do with any of it.
Poor little sad bub. This IS a great climber for older kids. I scaled up the red and blue wheels, decided to NOT risk my life by crossing over the metal Hula Climber to the huge slide, and instead took the toddler slide. There is also a Honeycomb climbing wall with lots of foot holds and another metal rung ladder. In the same giant sand section are two spring riders (with sad graffiti), and a couple of baby and big swings.
There are some beautiful mature trees here, but it was overcast when we visited so it’s hard to tell how much shade would be over the actual playground. Probably not too much, but there’d be tons around the edges.
The playground is nicely set back from the road (no fence), with a big greenspace, basketball court, benches and a fairly dirty picnic table.
