Kent Park

Was impressed with the splash pad, kinda underwhelmed with the (filthy, trash-covered) playgrounds.
This park could be a whole lot better if it was just cleaned and maintained!

The water area with features from Pointe-Claire based Vortex is fairly new and is larger than most other splash pads we’ve seen (except for L’Aquaciel in Lasalle).
There are two different water sections, one with hard sprays and jets, water cannons to soak each other, an umbrella tree, and a massive supersplash that (wait for it, WAIT FOR IT!) will drench you. Little kids might get scared out of their minds if they’re standing under it when it goes! But for older kids, awesome
There are two sensors here and each works a different part. Closer to the playgrounds is the slightly more tame section for younger kids that has a misty rainbow tunnel, inviting toddler-sized sprayers, and a ring of dumping buckets. The duo of pelicans is original and I was mesmerized by their motion!
There are benches around the perimeter and some shaded picnic tables near the chalet. The greenspace beyond also has benches and tables.
While the water was still on in early September, the adjoining wading pool was empty and the chalet locked. You can check HERE for wading pool hours for next summer 🙂

Having enough of the water, we wandered over to the playground.
The big-kid section is on wood chips, but a lot of spots are bare and are now hard-packed dirt. It needs a couple of dump trucks full of new chips put down to meet safety standards. The whole playground could use some TLC as some of the rope ladders for the climber are broken and missing rungs, one of the balance boards has been repaired with a sheet of plywood, and there are missing handholds on the rock climbing wall. The climber by GameTime still has lots of things to climb and swing from , including sky wheels, ladders and a tensile climbing wall.
There are a bunch of big swings, one adaptive swing (no seatbelt on this model), a ton of old-school-break-break-your-teeth wooden seesaws, the big climber and attached to the climber by a rope bridge is a large rope spiderweb.
Surrounded by hedges and partially fenced, there was some pretty good shade early in the morning on a super sunny day. There are mature trees and tons of benches around. Right next door, but with no sight lines (they’re separated by a huge hedge) is the toddler playground.

This part is on sand and has a sprawling and interesting climber from GameTime accessible by wide and easy “dragon” stairs, a traditional staircase, and metal platforms. There’s a wobbly slide, normal slide, a crawl tunnel, tic-tac-toe and activity panels (not all the things are working though), little stepping stones close to the ground, an impossible to see through telescope, and a steering wheel. Lots to do and touch to keep little guys happy.
Across the big expanse of sand are the baby swings, some spring riders, and the double-sided Tot Rock Wallcano climbing wall.
Though the playground is right next to Côte-des-Neiges you wouldn’t know as covering the fencing is a HUGE hedge.

This park is immense and also has a regular pool, sport fields and tennis courts.

p.s. the playgrounds and water areas are right beside Côte-des-Neiges Road and there is both paid and free street parking, but read the signs to avoid tickets!! Lots of cafés and restaurants all along the road.
