Michel-Menard (Duff Court) Park

My favourite part was the graffiti!

No, I’m not kidding. It was actually fantastic art along part of the highway 20 sound barrier.  I love that Lachine sets aside a spot for this purpose.

The rest of the park was ok, but could be really good.  My big complaint is that it was filthy. We were the only ones there early in the morning, until about 3 different daycares came with their kids. This is the first time anywhere where I’ve seen people have to put on latex gloves to clean the park before letting kids play.

There’s a lot at this park; skateboarding, basketball courts, a pool, the playground, ball hockey, and even a permanent ping pong table!
We walked through the greenspace to look at the graffiti, but the ground was FULL of thistles. Like FULL. It would be good for picnics except for….you know, the pain.

So, on to the playground. It is all on wood chips, and has two close together sections (toddlers and big kids).
The toddler section has a large climber by GameTime with stairs, multiple slides, the metal bridges that I don’t really love, and a MegaRock climbing wall. Two seconds after I took the tranquil, empty picture it was overrun with daycare kids and we had a hard time walking around.
There are baby swings, and a ride-on metal duck.

Just a few steps away is the big-kid area with more equipment from GameTime. There are lots of things to climb on; ladders and rungs, skywheels, and a balance tightrope. I like the spiderweb climber that goes up to a small platform and slides. There are some swings here, but I saw this new piece of plastic sticking out of the ground, went to pick it up and it was attached by a wire into the ground. I ripped off my fingernail with those heroics. Luckily I had bandaids in my huge Mom Bag of Emergency Stuff™

There is NO shade, there might be bathrooms in the summer at the pool chalet, and there WAS a water fountain (including a spout for dogs!). Some fencing along the street but with lots of open bits.
