Rathwell Park

My mom says “Don’t swear on your website, it makes you sound cheap.”
I won’t swear here, but I *did* swear in the car. Softly, so the little one wouldn’t hear me. But, arghhhhhhh! Trying to find a place to park here, and then having to circle the block (TWICE!) all the way back down to Rue Provost because of all the one-way streets was MADDENING. I finally did some fancy parallel parking and gratefully entered the park.

It’s fully fenced but with two open gates, and it was soooooo cute!
Everything is new. From the fantastic toddler climber, to the wood chips, to the permanent Adirondack chairs and the trees on the south side.
Well laid out, the swings (just one big and one baby) are on one side, the toddler climber, spinny wheel, and metal climbing flowers are on the other side, and in the middle is a little sand section with a concrete sphere covered in fossils for the littles to discover. I wished that we’d brought some brushes!
The toddler climber by Playworld Systems is brand new and incorporates everything I always want to see in a play structure for the 18months-5 year old crowd.
There are easy to climb stairs, a little metal ladder and one that’s a bit more challenging, a super cute rock wall (with animals and dinosaurs on the underside), a bridge, ground-level steering wheel and slides. Fun to putter around on and discover all the different doodads.
Ringing the play areas are some fun to jump on boulders, the aforementioned Adirondack chairs (I sat for 3.7 seconds, “MAMA Come!”), and two new picnic tables.
My only complaints? The amount of litter tossed around (like, wtf people?), not enough swings, and the sand that needs to be swept back into the sand pit.
