René-Goupil Park

The highlight of this park was definitely the brand new splash pad. In fact, it’s so nice, I’m going to put it in “Our Favourites”!

This is a large park, with tennis, bocce/pétanque, a new artificial soccer field, a gazebo, two playgrounds, picnic table area, a chalet, and a brand new splash pad which replaces the old wading pool.

The playgrounds are on sand, and though older, the boys thought they were pretty good. There’s a toddler play structure with stairs, ladders, and slides; four baby swings, and a “scary-looking” duck spring rider. Under the trees are a couple of toddler-sized picnic tables.
The section for older kids has a complex cable climber with a bridge to the tall slides. Nearby are six adult swings.

The splash pad is closest to Rue Frégault, and is right beside the chalet and up from a wheelchair-accessible path.
This is a colourful, bright, and fun splash pad for all ages. The products from Aquajeux include foot activated water cannons, tipping buckets, beautiful spraying butterflies that also cast cool shadows on the ground, a spinning wheel, and spraying fronds. There’s also a quieter area for toddlers with a cute crab, and the fun water bell. If you get a second (hahaha), try out the large lounge chairs under the bright red umbrella. There is also a long benche that circles much of one side.

Things to note:
-The splash pad hours are 9am-11pm. There are TWO sensors to turn on the water. Touch the button on the post for the larger section, and press the button on the ground for the toddler area.
-The playground and the splash pad are NOT fenced.
-When we visited the chalet was undergoing renovations and was not open, so I can’t tell you about bathrooms. Sorry!
-Unfortunately, when we visited in mid-July, the playground was filthy with tons of trash all over. Seriously people, pick up your garbage!
