Another park, another lost hat.
Driving home I had one of those “something is missing” moments.
-Do I have both kids? Yes.
-Do they have shoes on? Yes.
-Are they wearing hats? One hat. Yes. Two hats? NO! Ah! $@#%@%$&^^!@!&
But we were so close to home and I wasn’t driving back up St. John’s in rush hour to retrieve a $6 hat. So we’ll chalk that up to another lesson learned.
Anyhoo, before we lost the toddler’s hat we had fun in the playground. Besides the motion-sick part.
Yes, my 8-year old spun so hard and for so long in the saddle seat spinners that he had to curl up and lie down on the bottom of a slide for 1/2 hour. So we just played around him and called out “you okay?” every once in a while.
This is a pretty small neighbourhood park, but it has some rarely seen equipment like the GameTime BigFoot slide with not one, but two staircases going up to the top. Which meant races to the top between the two brothers. “There’s NO racing your brother! He’s going to break his teeth!”
Both boys tried out the rope Hemisphere Climber barefoot, and then spun, and spun, and spun in the seats. “Honey, You might not want to spin so much….”
And the toddler LOVED the colourful Landscape Structures house with its slanted and curved rock-climbing wall, the working talk tubes, the periscope, and steering wheel panel. “I drive, you sit. Over dere.”
We visited on a very overcast day, and it actually started raining while we were playing, but there are mature trees around the play areas, so there may be some shade when it’s sunny. And note that there’s no fencing at all and some of the equipment is close-ish to the road.
