Royal Park

I wish that we had visited this park before all the leaves had fallen, because I’m guessing it’s beautiful! Big, towering trees surrounding the playground, with a paved circular path going underneath them.

This park underwent a mini makeover in fall of 2018 and now boasts all new swings. FOUR kinds of swings. You’ll find baby, adult, the fun Generation child-parent swing, and a new-to-us RAFT. Very, very fun. You can stuff 4 big kids or like, 27 toddlers in there!

The Little Tikes Commercial playhouse is all at ground level with the little animal crawl tunnel and an accessible abacus to turn and move. We played “restaurant” for a while (the currency was leaves), drove the steering wheel, and then tried out the larger climber.
The big climber is a very dated, and once I helped the 2-year old up the steep ladder steps, we gingerly made our way along the slightly broken and rotten wooden bridge (replaced since our first visit).
There is a twirly slide, regular slides, monkey bars, and a small wooden wall with rope to climb. Not the most exciting but decent. Only a handful of the “CP/RA Golden Jubilee Structure” were made and sold:

If you’re a total nerd like me, you can read about the history of this structure HERE. It was built and sold through Paris Playground Equipment Inc to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Canadian Parks/Recreation Association.

Paris Salutes the 50th Anniversary of CP/RA To show their commitment to parks and recreation in Canada, and to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of CP/RA, Paris Playground Equipment Inc. is offering the “CP/RA Golden Jubilee Structure.” This large structure offers tremendous play value and world-class quality and design, all for the incredible price of $11,111 (excluding installation and taxes), F.O.B. Paris, Ontario. And, in an effort to stimulate support for the CP/RA treasury, Paris is offering a special rebate of $500 to CP/RA for each of the special structures sold. Paris hopes to sell 20 of these structures. Already, five municipalities have purchased the Golden Jubilee structure: Gloucester and Tecumseh (Ontario), Val-D’or and Beaconsfield (Quebec) and Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. CP/RA greatly values its partnership with Paris Playground Equipment Inc. The offer of a specially-designed Golden Jubilee structure is unique and reflective of Paris’ longstanding support of CP/RA. Our partnership makes available to you a quality play structure at an excellent price. Consider the CP/RA Golden Jubilee structure as a possibility for your parks and playspaces

You can see the little one on some of the old equipment from when we first visited back in 2014, when he was only three apples high. Then we played an invigorating game of hide-and-seek and “Spot that squirrel!”
Aw, so cute…
