Sherbrooke – Lucien-Blanchard Park and Beach

GENERAL NOTE FOR ALL BEACHES: For all information, rates (if applicable), reservation details, and more, make sure to visit the official website BEFORE going. Water quality, maximum capacities, and staffing issues change often and may affect openings.

Formerly the Plage Saint-Esprit, this large park has a ton of activities, a great view, and a surprising (and free!) activity that kept the kids occupied for a while.

Before our recent trip to Mont Mégantic, I’d looked online for beaches and large parks where we could get off the highway for a while and play, and this location seemed a perfect pit stop (though it’s not RIGHT next to the highway but about a 10 minute drive.)
With a huge free parking lot, free beach, great playgrounds, picnic areas, outdoor fitness circuit, beach volleyball; and canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, rowboats and SUP boards to rent, there’s something here that everyone should enjoy.
Have your bikes with you? You can bike and walk the network of trails that follow the Magog River and the park is one of the main entries to the Grandes-Fourches cycling network.

We played for a while, splashed about in the beach, avoided the throngs of day campers, and then went into the pavilion to find a bathroom.
And surprise, surprise found ourselves in the loveliest 3-level building that houses the “maison de l’eau” with its free exhibitions of live reptiles and small animals, fish, and critters. With interactive panels and buttons and videos to watch, it was a delightful (and educational) side trip!
A must-see if you visit the park.

Things to note:
