Sicard Park

It’s not often that we find an elevator at a playground.
But I’m getting ahead of myself….

First, we had a picnic. On the graffiti engraved picnic tables. Which is too bad, because they’re quite new. “Boys, avert your eyes and NO READING!”

This is a very small park set between duplexes on either side, and an alley in the back. Partially fenced, there are no swings, or spring riders, or other equipment other than the almost new structure from Playworld Systems. Sicard Park, named for the inventor of the snowblower (really!) was entirely redone in 2013 and is geared for children aged 5-12. Toddlers won’t have much of anything to do here, but my 8-year old and his 7-year old cousin loved the climber. Climb across the swinging log bridge, climb the various ladders, spin on the overhead spinner, zip down the high slide, and then reach out from one of the platforms, grab hold of the handles on the Drop Zone tower and ride it down to the ground. Then run back up and do it again!

p.s. There’s a “take a book-lend a book” library towards the rear of the park. We always keep books in the car in case we come across one of these cute “book houses”!
