Sledding-Bois-de-Liesse

Our first time sledding at Bois-de-Liesse! We’ve been here multiple times in the summer and fall (you can read that review HERE) but have never visited in the winter. After having sledded at Sunnyside two days in a row, we wanted something a little different. Off to Saint-Laurent!

There are multiple entrances to the huge Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park, but the TWO sledding hills are near the chalet d’accueil des Champs. Punch in 3555 Rue Douglas B Floreani into the GPS, drive past L’Oreal and you’ll find the parking lot right at the end of the street. Parking costs $7 for two hours or $9 for the day. There were many people parking along the street just outside of the park, but we took the path of least resistance and decided to cough up the money since we had two kids and four sleds with us.

The Glissade du Coyote is directly across the road from the parking lot and close to the porta-pottie and chalet. Since we visited on New Year’s Day the chalet was closed, but it is usually open from 9:30-4:30 during the week and from 9:30-5 on weekends for the winter period (December 12th-March 6th) and has a refreshment stand and coffee for sale. You can see information on snowshoe, ski, and sled rentals on the park’s official website. There are also various programs throughout the winter including Colourful Afternoons and Starlight Walks that you can find on the website.

This hill was great for my 3-year old and I love that there are paths running up the sides, so there is less chaos from kids and parents walking up as sledders are coming down. There are a couple of benches at the top and bottom. Not too steep or fast, this hill was a winner with all the kids.

I’d looked at the map of the park before leaving the house and knew that there were TWO hills here. Walking past the chalet, we followed the large path for about 3 minutes and came to the Glissade du Renard. This hill is slightly bigger than the first and also has the paths up the side as well as benches at the top and bottom. A bit wider, there was plenty of room for all the sledders.

It’s especially nice here because you’re surrounded by trees and can get in a mini (or long) nature walk on the groomed paths.

Just watch out for cross-country skiers and stay off their tracks!
