Westmount Athletic Grounds Park

Or, as Westmount calls it, a “tot lot”.
Haha. What?
You could have a LOT of tots here as there are seven baby swings, but strangely, no big-kid swings.
The playground is one small area, close to the (dead end) road, so it’s quiet but there is no fencing all along the road portion. Entirely on wood chips, there are the swings, a super cute spring-rider truck that’s big enough for a whole bunch of toddlers (and it has TWO steering wheels!), a new-in-2015 tall twirly slide, and a small toddler play structure by GameTime.
The play structure has easy to climb stairs, two tandem slides, a telescope (!), a couple of wall activities, and a metal clover leaf ladder.
Miraculously, some of the activities on the wall still work, and I loved the ouija boards/magic 8 ball type spinner.
Question: “Should I get another coffee?”
Answer: “Double it.”
Psychic!!!
But really, I couldn’t get the little guy off the truck. And I was NOT allowed to touch a steering wheel. “Mommy, you sit IN THE BACK!”

There were a couple of people using the running track that’s beside the playground, and we saw the new tennis courts. While Westmount’s website says there’s a dog run I didn’t see one. (found!)****

The playground itself is cute enough, but the surroundings are pretty bleak. It backs RIGHT onto the train tracks and the Ville-Marie Expressway, so it’s very, very loud. Though, If you’ve got a train enthusiast, it might be a good thing!
There is also a lot of trash, broken concrete and fencing along the south edge.
p.s. the playground itself is right at the end of Hallowell Avenue off of Dorchester Boulevard.

I used to live three steps away from that playground but hardly ever went. It used to have big kid swings, they just recently got rid of them. I’m guessing they are either replacing them with new ones or they got rid of them to avoid the high school kids to continue going there. They often have their lunch there and leave ALL their trash all over the place even though there is a garbage can right next to the playground frown emoticon The dog thing is behind the toilets, which are after the tennis courts, that’s why you didn’t see it. Quite hidden.

Also, the football field is awesome for cycling when the kids have a balance bike or bicycle. We still go there even though it’s a 25 minutes walk from where we live now only so the kids can ride without me running beside them. You sit back and they drive in circles.
