Since our first visit in 2014 we’ve come back a number of times to play, picnic, and update the pictures.
While the playground itself is ok, it’s the themed garden at the entrance to this park, and the zipline that bring us back over and over again.
We’ve seen three different garden themes here including the giant tree man, Smaug the Dragon, and for 2018-2019-2020 there’s been a colourful peacock standing over a hill of flowers. Dorval has such a creative team.
After ogling the flower display, it’s always onward to play!
Besides a small toddler play structure with easy-to-climb platforms and slides, there’s a fairly bland big-kid play structure, seesaw, a saucer swing, big and baby swings, some balancing steps, an accessible raised sand table that’s not actually accessible, and a fantastic wheelchair swing. GIANT ASTERISK on the wheelchair swing as I’ve been told by the city that “You must pick up the key and the anchors at the reception of the Dorval Aquatic and Sports Complex.” which means you’ll also have to find out the hours of the Aquatic Centre and drive there are back afterwards. That’s the most user UN-friendly procedure I’ve ever heard. An alternative to that would be having a lockbox AT the park with a number you can call for the code. Jaysus.
In 2016 the awesome Mantis Zipline from Little Tikes Commercial was installed. And a disc golf course was added the year after. You can read more info about it HERE.
Things to note:
-There’s no fencing but the playground is set wayyy back from the road.
-Benches and picnic tables are scattered around and there is some good shade from all the mature trees. It’s a great spot for a picnic.
-Access this park from Avenue Dawson or Chemin du Bord du Lac, but the easiest parking is on Allard.
-The garden is right on Dawson at the base of Fenellon
