Parc Dufresne just reopened in June after getting a complete makeover that is UTTERLY ADORABLE.
The renovation work at Parc Dufresne and Place Olier just beside it includes new play areas, new furnishings including a HUGE picnic table, pathways, trees and plantings, a revitalized pétanque court, and ping pong tables. According to the city of Laval, “This is one of the first actions announced as part of the project to revitalise the area around Cartier metro station.”
The new play space by Quebec company Eskair Aménagement will ignite children’s creativity and imaginations as they put on a puppet show, play in the sand table complete with integrated bowls (so simple and brilliant), or hang out in the small wooden house. But the showstopper here is the giant treehouse that’s actually incorporated into a real tree! Love that it was repurposed into something so great instead of simply being removed.
For those who want to get their bodies moving, there’s a whole circuit of logs to cross, tunnels to pass through, and a wall to climb. It’s a mini Ninja Warrior course. “Don’t touch the sand, it’s lava!”
Things to note:
-There is some street parking available around the park. Don’t block people’s driveways!
-No bathrooms.
-The playground is only partially fenced.
-I couldn’t get pictures of the pétanque or ping pong tables as there was a birthday party happening, but they looked lovely!
-There’s limited shade for now until some trees grow.
