Neptune park

Finished up in 2024, Dorval’s new playground at Neptune Park is totally different from anything else in the city. And it’s great!

The equipment here is modern, weird (I love weird), fun, and works for all ages. There are low-to-the-ground activities for toddlers, higher climbers and bridges for bigger kids, and even some “what is this thing?” pieces that make it fun to explore. The bridges between structures are especially cool — and a little intimidating for *some* 48-year-old moms. The tallll slide was maybe also a bit scary for….someone.

On the ground, there’s a lot happening too: interactive activity panels are tucked everywhere, so there’s plenty to push, spin, and turn without even having to climb. And then there’s the adorable playhouse. OMG, I love playhouses, and judging from the amount of toddlers crammed in there during one of our visits, the little ones love it too!

Everything is on sand, including the adaptive swing. Ugh. At least there is an adaptive swing, but sand makes it no longer accessible.

Things to note:

  • Street parking only, read the signs carefully before leaving your car. And don’t block the neighbours driveways!
  • A porta-potty is on site in the summer.
  • It you’ve got multiple kids, the sightlines across the playground are excellent!
  • The whole playground is fully fenced with a gate, which is always a win if you’ve got fast runners or multiple kids.
  • Tennis courts right beside.

Verdict:
Neptune Park is fresh, weird, and cool, with equipment that breaks out of the “same old slides and platforms” design. It’s great for all ages, has tons of ground-level activities, and the playhouse is ridiculously cute. Sand is a drawback, but overall this is one of Dorval’s best new playgrounds.
