I like parks that are slightly weird and whimsical, and this newish park in Brossard is rich with interesting colours, textures, and design.
We rarely see splash pads on poured-in-place rubber, and this bright purple and pink design totally caught my eye. The splash pad is located near Boulevard Chevrier and is only partially fenced and is surrounded by gardens, rubber mounds to climb, a drinking fountain, benches and picnic tables. A concrete path leads you to the playground beyond.
The splash pad by Vortex features spinning flowers, tipping tulips, water cannons, and tall misting leaves. For little ones there’s also the cute frog sprayer and some not-too-scary ground sprays. Touch the sensor to turn on the water sequence.
Follow the path and you’ll come to a round sandbox, more funky purple mounds, and the two play areas. All on wood chips, there’s a nice Kompan play structure for toddlers that has ground-level doodads, easy-to-climb stairs, a rope wall, slides, and a mini climbing wall. There are also cute pods to cross, or take a spin in the nauseating spinner bowl. Blargh.
Nearby is a modern metal and rope climber for older kids, as well as two baby and two adult swings.
Things to note:
–The city posts the splash pad hours as 7am-9pm. You can find what’s open and closed for the season HERE.
-There is basically no shade.
-You can read about the renovations HERE.
-The playground is not fenced.
