Paul Gérin-Lajoie Park (Parc-de-la-paix)

Formerly named Parc-de-la-paix, this park was renamed in a ceremony which took place on May 28th, 2016 as a tribute to Paul Gérin-Lajoie, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Liberal MNA and Quebec’s first education minister. Read the full article about the name change HERE.
This is a beautiful spot right on the baie de Vaudreuil. We watched geese, ducks, and then some skateboarders! My toddler politely clapped as they came by, which they may or may not have been appreciated 😉
There is a small parking lot, tons of porta-potties, lots of picnic tables, benches, outdoor showers (?), bleachers; and FOUR beach volleyball courts with some great looking sand. Kids (with ID) can also borrow bikes for free when the Maison des Jeunes is open.

I was going to write something about the actual skate park, but I know nothing about skateboarding, except for having watched my brother wiping out a lot in front of our house on a home made ramp.
So, here’s a website with a much better description (and video!) than I could do:
Info-Skate ®

p.s. This park also has a “Book House” lending library, one of 10 Vaudreuil-Dorion locations with the “Ma petite boîte à lecture“, so bring a book to share and then take one that interests you!
