We had wandered around on Gouin Boulevard for a bit and then came out on the other side of the 13 and went “where ARE we??”
Turned out to be Ahuntsic (who knew??) and we found this fantastic, almost new playground just off of Gouin Boulevard. Just two years old, the equipment is shiny and looks practically brand new and there is a toddler and big kid section with big and baby swings between the two.
Everything is on wood chips, and has benches scattered around and a couple of picnic tables close to the big-kid area. There is some fencing, but not everywhere and the equipment is close to the road. We came in the evening and there was a small amount of shade, but hard to tell what it’s like during the day, though there are mature trees on the southern edge near the road.
The equipment here is from Quebec’s own Jambette playground equipment company. Everything is very modern with a metal and green theme and both climbers are challenging and interesting.
The big climber has all sorts of things to scale including a double-sided, three-walled climbing tower; a small rope ladder; metal rungs and bars. There’s also The Iris contorted metal climbing structure. To get up to the slide is next to impossible for little guys so luckily they have a climber of their own.
Run past the swings and you’ll get to….The little climber!
This one has stairs, a tricky to climb ladder with little rungs, binoculars, a rock climbing wall, interesting ladders with footholds, and slides. Easy enough for my almost 3-year old, but would be challenging for little guys.
We walked across the big greenspace and poked our heads into the modern and clean wheelchair accessible washroom. This area is part of the Parcours Gouin bicycling network and there were quite a few bicyclists using the facilities. Nice to have this so public, reminds me of Europe!
